Have you been itching to start a blog for some time? If you feel like you have something valuable to contribute to the world, then this is an awesome outlet for expressing yourself. These days the question of how to start a blog isn’t difficult to answer since there are many good website builders, tools and resources available on how to do this.
However, you may be stuck on why you should do it. This is a sign that you are a thoughtful person. Have no fear. You can do this. You have something valuable to contribute. Below we will expand on this and help to show you why you should get started on your blog!
Blogs Are an Outlet for Self Expression
Pursuing a blog is a creative endeavor that provides many benefits. I can’t quite explain it, but we all have the need to express ourselves. Writing is a useful way of doing this. Writing down your thoughts in an ordered way, in the form of blog posts, helps you to get clear on things.
As you practice this, you get better at expressing your thoughts and at communication in general. You also learn about yourself and the topics you write about more deeply. Finally, a blog is open to the public, which helps with cultivating confidence.
While blogging isn’t quite the same thing as public speaking, it does require you to be in the public eye. You have to confront any fears you may have about placing yourself in public view to start a blog. This could help those of us who are afraid of presenting in public to take a small step to become more confident in doing so.
Blogs Allow You to Give Something Back
I don’t mean to get too philosophical here, but during our lives, we are helped by many people. We can also help others by creating informative blogs. Whether you choose to write about how you cope with personal issues or provide useful technical information, you can contribute meaningful information to others through your blog.
It can be hard for us to imagine that we have useful information inside of us sometimes, but the fact is that all of us have something useful to contribute. Are you a single mom balancing raising kids with working at your job? Are you great at fixing tech problems for your friends? Are you passionate about giving commentary on various forms of multimedia? You may or may not have answered yes to one or more of these questions, but I am sure that each of you has something that you do or you’re good at that you can write about that would make a difference in the lives of others.
Spend some time thinking about this. When you find your answer, you will probably have found a topic to blog about.
Blogs Create An Opportunity for Financial Gain
We have touched on self-expression and giving something back. These are great for personal development. However, you will be pleased to know that blogging also provides you with the opportunity for financial gain.
You can monetize your blog with ads that you can set to appear in locations of your choice throughout your blog. This isn’t a get rich quick strategy, but over time, it’s possible to build a decent income from this. There are a few advertising networks out there that can help you with this. Some of the top ones are:
- Google Adsense
- Amazon Ads
You can also sell ad space to businesses in your area. As the traffic passing through your blog grows, you’ll have plenty of eyeballs on your website. Businesses find this attractive, and you can leverage your traffic to sell ad space to them.
Blogging can help you, and it can help others. It allows you to express yourself, which has many knock-on benefits, such as improving your communication skills. In addition, you can provide meaningful information to others through your blog.
Finally, helping yourself and others is great, but blogging also provides you with the opportunity to make money. This is a great reward for doing something you are passionate about. Consider these reasons and be confident in knowing that each of us has something meaningful to contribute to the world. Formulate your plan, solidify your reasons, and get started on your blog today.
I started my own Tech blog almost 10 years ago. I did it because I thought it would be fun to have place on my own on the Internet. I bought my own domain and started writing small posts. I didn’t knew much about logging, SEO, WordPress or anything else that I have learned over the years. It has for sure been a fun and educational journey for me. I have learned a lot of things and met a lot of people online that, most of them, has been very helpful to learn me all kind of stuff. However, to start a blog to make money is very, very hard work. Not many people are able to make it with that only goal for eye. I am glad that I have my normal day job besides my blog.
